Up-cycled shipping containers vibrantly painted in shades of yellow, green, orange, and blue offer a temporary housing solution for clients working toward a permanent home.

Might need a Hele bike to get there, no busses near.

Serving up to 100 guests, Hale Mauliola provides short-term residences for singles and couples. Pets are like family here, too. Hale Mauliola is one of just two specialty shelters on the island of Oahu that allows guests to keep their furry friends. For some, pets play a pivotal role in overcoming homelessness, as they can support emotional wellbeing or be an essential service animal.

A large parking lot fronting the property ensures guests with vehicles can safely park overnight before leaving for work. If transportation is a problem, IHS also provides a complimentary shuttle service, allowing guests to remain self-sufficient.

Hale Mauliola fosters a sense of community among its guests while retaining their independence. There are multiple communal areas where guests can come together including the central hale, zen garden and shaded pavilion, outdoor kitchen, and gray water garden.

Housing Solutions

(get a case manager call U.S. Vets (808) 682-8900 to help you get into places like Housing Solutions or call IHS Institute for Human Services for a case manager ask the case manager if you can sign the VISPIDAT form it's a form to get you into housing placement like at Housing Solutions, they will meet you where you live if you are homeless, they will give you a Letter of Verification of Homeless or ask for one then use the letter to get into a Transitional shelter, When you get to a Transitional home they ask for the

Verification Letter; your ID; and Birth Certificate for any children. Getting the Letter of Verification from the Case Manger was important for the Letter of Verification of Homelessness if you want to go to Transitional home, sending things vie E-mail attachments is an option. (I use adobe photo shop red app icon and adobe scan the blue app icon it places photos into document quality the photo is off colored adobe makes the background white and letters like a document quality.)

Call (808) 681-3500. They interrogated me sort of to make sure my story was straight at the DV or Domestic Violence Shelter and I was able to stay. " -Anonymous
